In our house a whole lot (okay, like, everything) revolves around food. Celebrations are marked by special foods we eat. Seasons are marked by food we eat. Even when we are low on time and a meal is unplanned, we still manage to find pleasure in good food. Like Saturday.
We always experiment with butters that we smear on sweet corn before re-wrapping and grilling. This one was simple garlic butter using garlic from our own garden, though the corn was purchased since we don't grow corn.
We also had sliced cucumbers squirted with lime and sprinkled with cayenne and sea salt but we ate them too fast to take a photo.
These "thrown together at the last minute" dinners are often my favorites and they always happen more often this time of year when we can shop the garden. We love (and sometimes hate) the weekly challenge of, "Okay, we've got a truckload of peppers, tomatoes and some garlic...what can we make?"
Do you love food? Is it a big part of your life and family?
