I got into juicing over the summer. By "got into juicing" I mean I bought a juicer and made juice. I'm not a juicing evangelist or anything weird. I just like tasty/healthy beverages.
Every morning I make a quart sized mason jar worth of juice and then sip it over the next couple hours. It has been my summer routine (and has replaced my breakfast of no breakfast) but I'll probably switch to tea as the weather cools.
I don't really follow recipes but I do have a green juice template that I follow using whatever I have on hand. Greens + sweet + sour.
- Greens: spinach, kale, dandelion greens, sunflower sprouts, other mild-tasting lettuces
- Sweet: 1 apple, 1/8 pineapple or 1 pear
- Sour: 1/4 to 1/2 lemon or lime
That's the template and it works like a charm. Thanks to "M" for giving me the idea to just post this rather than email it to her.
We have this Breville Juice Fountain juicer and I've used it every single day for over three months. I wasn't sure what to expect since I once owned a blender by the same company and it absolutely sucked (I returned it) but apparently, they're known for their juicers. I've been very happy with it. (By the way, that is an Amazon affiliate link. Not that one of the five people who read this blog are going to buy a juicer, but hey, I have to mention it just in case. Rules and stuff.)
