I have thing for strawberries. Last weekend we went to the California Strawberry Festival where we tasted the most delicious strawberries I've had since picking them right off the vine at my Grandparents' farm. So juicy sweet that they just melt in your mouth. Grocery store berries are picked before they are ripe, so that they are firm to withstand shipping and will last longer. That is why they are hard and flavorless. If you've never had vine ripened berries you've never really tasted a strawberry so get yourself to a farmer's market and find some!
There was a huge craft fair there too, but I didn't find anything as cool as my vintage strawberry cookie jar and in fact I didn't buy anything. I'm a terrible craft fair shopper. You'd think I'm their prime audience (and I am!) but I just can't ever find anything to buy lately. Too many "handcrafted" items that were made in China but not actually made by the booth owner these days.
