I meant to make a stuffed animal...but a puppet happened instead! I bought a 100% wool sweater from a thrift store for a few bucks last week and washed it on hot and then threw it in the dryer to felt it. This was an XL men's sweater (shop the men's section because you want as much fabric as possible) and after felting it was more like a women's size small! A felted sweater can be cut with a scissors and won't unravel, making it perfect for stuffed animals...or puppets!
Mouse Puppet Instructions: Cut off one of the sleeves at an angle. The tip will be the mouse's nose and the sweater's wrist cuff will be where you put your hand in. It is already a perfectly finished edge, plus the sweater sleeves are the perfect size for your hand. Turn inside out and sew the angle.
Next, cut out little ear circles and sew those on. I just hand stitched them on, embroidered the nose and cut out felt circles for the eyes.
Cute, huh?
The chipmunk loves him.
